Craig

With a life-long love of both animals and science, it was only natural that I attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Animal Science. However, back when I finished my education there were no doggie daycares around,  so I went to work at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.  After doing disease research there for 3 years I moved to AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, where I worked for 23 years as a Bioscientist. Times change and AZ decided to close it’s Wilmington research facility thereby “encouraging” me to pursue my life-long dream of owning and operating a doggie daycare. Working with my wife, Kristi, we have made Fur-ever Friends Doggie Daycare the realization of that dream.   We have had many dogs over the course of our marriage and we wanted to create a place where we knew our dogs would be happy. So we went to Doggie Daycare Training (yes there is such a thing), we drew up a business plan, we found a severence check in the mail for financing, and we set out to design the perfect facility.  First requirement – lots of loving, caring people to watch over and play with the dogs.  Second requirement – grass! and lots of it to run and play in. Third requirement – padded floors (if you have ever had an elderly dog with arthritis you know how difficult being on concrete can be for them). Final requirement – no high density daycare or boarding to maximize profit at the expense of the dogs. We believe that only leads to unhappy, stressed out dogs (and staff, too!). So come visit us today and see if Fur-ever Friends Doggie Daycare is your dog’s life-long dream, too. We know it is ours!

As of April 24, 2013, I went back to research and now work for Teva Pharmaceuticals as a Research Associate. Kristi keeps me up-to-date on what is going on at the daycare.

Kristi – I worked in business for over 25 years and was a teacher for 6 1/2 years.  My degrees include a BS in Business Administration and an MS in Elementary Education. With the combination of business and working with children (which I consider my dogs to be!), this is the perfect career change for me. My husband and I are a perfect team to provide quality, loving care for your dog. We both love dogs and I have had dogs in my family for over 50 years. We had Binky, a Corgi mix; Whiskey, a German Shepard mix; Tasha, a medium sized black rescue dog; Chessie, a lab mix; Dottie, a Dalmatian; Izzy, a Rottweiler (for a little while); Sadie,a Bernese mountain dog (for a little while); Shane, a yellow lab who is a rescue from Taiwan; and Riley who is a rescue from Kentucky. So you can see I have experience with small and very large dogs and I love them all. I can’t wait to meet you and your dog and have them join our Fur-ever Friends family!

When Craig left to work for Teva, I implemented the Barter System and have help from our Fur-ever Friends family in exchange for daycare hours. It is a win-win for all of us!

The rest of our Fur-ever Friends Team includes:

  • Our groomer is: Jaime who works Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. She takes appointments from 8am until 1pm. Please call 302.533.5435 to make an appointment.
  • We have Dog Daycare Providers who stay with the dogs during sleep-overs. Each team member (Emily, Steph, Steve, and Taylor) has experience with all sizes and temperaments of the dogs that board with us. They are patient and love to spoil your dog with lots of hugs and kisses! They play with your dog, sit with them while they nap, stay with them while they eat and fight for a place on the sofa when it’s time for bed! They are here from 7pm to 7am Mondays through Sundays and 7am to 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Kristi is here day and night when needed, so your dogs are well taken care of while you are away.

Make an appointment to visit Fur-ever Friends and see what makes us different from all the rest.
